The grade
Runs fail at the runout, not in the photograph of the apex.
A trail does not go false in the middle first. The pitch shallows, the ball skids, and the map still looks busy. Iron descent fails the same way on Wolcott.
We plot a thin grade across the face and read where the ball refuses to hold. That skid is a shallow pitch. Plains mornings accelerate it because crust forms overnight and the first swing of the day releases into the wind.
If the toe is green and the heel still black, the face is two trails. We will not steepen the living half as a kindness to the dead half. Maja marks the toe as steepen and the heel as leave.
